Lincoln has long been considered by many to by the "other" American luxury car. They were premium cars that commanded a premium price. In fact, in the mid-1950's the Lincoln Continental solid for the same price as a Rolls Royce imported from England. Lincoln Continentals were used by United States Presidents from 1939 to 1989. Less flashy than it's competitors, who often tried to make a statement along the lines of "I finally made it", the Lincoln's understated lines said "I made it a long time ago and I've still got it". Today the company offers a line of excelllent vehicles based on Ford platforms, engines and transmissions.
